Kitchen Cabinetry in a New Light

It is rare that we consider kitchen cabinetry to be an additional source of light, but that may just be the defining characteristic of these compositions from Leicht, Germany. Recessed spot and down-lighting is maximized by the reflective nature of high gloss lacquering and aluminum shelving, which is incorporated into a clean, modular aesthetic that lends itself to the covert demands of kitchen storage. Leicht also demonstrates a willingness to experiment with bold colors, either in the application of lacquered segments or in feature walls that serve as a dramatic backdrop for the units, and whether you love or hate it, it certainly contributes to the individuality of the space.

In a departure from a sleek façade that has not the need for handles, the cabinets featured in this image are altogether more reminiscent of a French farmhouse kitchen, albeit still a modern interpretation. The choice in flooring supports the exposed industrial display of the kitchen utensils, which hang atop a meeting of worktop and wall. It is interesting that Leicht has decided not to isolate the worktop in the typical kitchen island fashion, but viewers will notice the openness and sizable impression of the space, just as they will, the way in which this allows the honest flooring material to be showcased in its best light.

Finally, this dramatic burgundy and black combination offers an alternative to a palette that is more commonly associated with kitchens. However, such a combination relies heavily on the greater space to provide the necessary natural light, which is why it is best suited to the setting pictured here.

Living Room Style Statements

This first concept takes us through an interesting transition in light over an open plan living space, where huge dual-level floor to ceiling windows embrace the natural light of the incoming day, unobstructed by window dressings, from early sunrise till dusk.

A vivacious feature wall is home to this room's sound and vision equipment, creating a design buzz before the electricity is even turned on. A large rug continues the molecular pattern in bright red on white, and a punchy coffee table pulls the two together on a mid height level.

Masculine black furniture is lifted with rich walnut tones, and clean white wall mounted storage units, in this serious yet comfortable space complete with subtle backlit shelving and style statement Eames chair.

Travel Themed Bedroom for Seasoned Explorers

These masculine bedroom visualizations, from Viz Art, have a very distinct hint of world traveler about them, peppered with maps and yacht sail-like geometry, boat souvenirs and ocean imagery, to make an experienced explorer feel right in their comfort zone.

Wood clad walls give the generously proportioned room a cozy cabin feel, reminiscent of times gone by whilst still remaining on trend with modern home interiors. Scattered soft light sources create an intimate atmosphere for lazy evenings plotting the next big adventure, whilst task lighting is available to shed a brighter light on the all important passport search and rescue mission.

This room has been split into two parts with a half partition wall and retractable doors, to allow the space to flow as one large area, or section off the home office area once the transport arrangements and itinerary for upcoming excursions are all done and dusted.

A canvas above the bed holds an action shot of a yacht on the waves, to sail who rests below off to dreamland.

Pretty Beach House in Sydney

We were wowed by this exclusive, pretty beach-side guesthouse in Sydney, Australia, a luxury accomodation located on the Bouddi Peninsula. Its stunning pool and deck, accented by a natural tree practically growing out through the middle, is gorgeous. The natural beauty of the surrounding forestry add more rustic flare to the feel of the house and the interiors are luxuriously designed with tiles, stone, and light-colored wood. The colors of the interior are muted and natural, with wood used even in the lamps.

Living Rooms With Great Views

Imagine lounging in your living room, a crackling open fire at one side, and an enveloping panoramic view at the other; peace and serenity itself. Clear your busy mind and take a wander with us through this parade of stunning living rooms, blessed with even more breathtaking views.

Amazing views like these should be maximized by bringing the essence of the outdoor surroundings into the home; a woodland setting inspires natural interiors filled with floor to ceiling wood grain walls and textured stone surfaces, whereas a fresh ocean scene should breathe a cool and crisp palette with smooth, clean lines.

If you are lucky enough to find yourself submerged in dream views like these, ensure your room design is kept airy and uncomplicated to allow the eye to naturally find the beauty beyond, rather than conflict with it.

Full height floor to rafter windows or glass doors are the obvious choice for properties in special spots, and such expanses allow in stacks of light to bathe your living room in a glorious glow from sunrise to sunset, and later, a magical glittering blanket of evening stars.

Window dressings are kept soft and sheer so as not to take focus away from the scene, or blinds are installed that can be drawn up and away from the view, which also provide some shade when the sun is high in the sky.
